Happy New Year!
With the start of a fresh new year comes the realization that it is time for my husband & I to get a bigger house. Our current home seemed very large compared to the tight, cramped quarters of a 4 bedroom 1600 square foot military townhouse on Fort Gordon. When we first moved in, I thought “Wow, Look at all this space!” Remember we are the new “Brady Bunch” type of family. Now after having 6 children, a dog and all of their belongs stuffed into every nook and cranny of our 1986 square foot home, my husband & I are deciding that come this spring we will be entering into this housing market with all of you!
As a Realtor I understand the business and “know” what needs to be done, now I just have to figure out a few things:
- How to get my children on the same page about purging, packing and what is a necessity.
- How much stuff will the 5′ x 10′ storage unit hold?
- Which items to replace prior to listing? (Kitchen floors; bathroom vanities; fresh paint)
So, I will be entering a new blog entry every so often to journal my experience. I know the house must be priced right and we have to get it looking bright, spacious and clean too! I know being a seller is tough, because I have done it before. My first course of action is to make a list to identify exactly what needs to be done in each and every room. This will probably take me until the weekend to get completed! Hopefully my list may help you or someone you know to get your house ready for the market!
