Martinez, GA ranks 63 on Money’s 2009 Top 100 Best Places to Live! This is the second time Martinez has been named as a Best Place to live. (2007 Martinez was ranked 76.) Crime rate being relatively low is one of the factors. There are several sources for employment and job growth nearby at Fort Gordon, Medical College of Georgia and a nuclear power plant.
Martinez is also close to Augusta National which is the home of The Masters golf tournament. Martinez is located in Columbia County, GA and has a population of about 30,600. It has 692 restaurants within a 15 mile radius.
There are several housing options to choose from with every thing from the premier gated community of West Lake with it’s own country club to conveniently located townhouses for affordable living. The schools are considered the best in the area with Stevens Creek elementary and Lakeside High School rating as some of the best in the State of Georgia.
Oh and if you want to speak like a local, please make sure you pronounce Martinez with the emphasis on EZ as in Mar-tuhn-EZ. Just think of it as Martin with ez at the end and you will be fine.
